Vítková, Kateřina ; Vlček Ličková, Nina (referee) ; Havliš, Karel (advisor)
The aim of the thesis is to revive the former textile factory complex, which is located on a unique place - on the island between the river Svitava and the race. The main idea is to make the area accessible and to use its potential, focusing primarily on the link of history, identity of the place, quality public space and the functional content of the whole area. The concept of the whole work is the planning in time and the gradual phase of integrating brownfields back into the lives of not only local Brno citizens. The island in Obřany could thus become the heart of this city district, a meeting place with a rich cultural life, a space for relaxation, activities and leisure activities close to nature in a charming environment with a touch of Brno's industrial history.

This paper aims to describe the emerging „empty“ public spaces, to creat their definition and classification. The work generally examines the current situation of public spaces and describe the factors that cause their transformation. The work also presents an analysis of the problems emerging empty spaces and highlights the possible potential of these areas. Finally, it is described the current trends in the revitalization of empty public spaces, which are an example of their potential use.
Brno lives on Veveří
Tymová, Romana ; Joja, Milan (referee) ; Františák, Luboš (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the preparation of an urban study, which extends in the area between Žižkova, Šumavská, Kounicova and Nerudova streets. Emphasis is then placed on Veveří Street, which lacks most of urban character. The central territory for this design is often associated with the term Akademické náměstí. This place, dominated by the "Brněnská trojčata", is now defined by an unsightly parking area, a collection yard and a grassy forecourt of the Faculty of Law of Masaryk University. The aim of the design is to make Veveří Street a full-fledged attractive urban avenue, to complement the disparate structure of the place with appropriate volumes with new functions and facilities, and to design appropriate modifications to the newly created public spaces. The work also includes an architectural design of one of the newly designed buildings.

This article illustrates the interpretation of legislation, using the urban structure of the city of Brno as an example. This article will also speculate about its weaknesses.

Získávání dat pro hodnocení kvality veřejných prostranství
Kilnarová, Pavla ; Horáková, Eva
Urban spaces hold a lot of essential public functions and play an irreplaceable role in the operating of a modern city. Therefore, monitoring their quality in relation to social needs and the way of its utilization are very important. There are some empirical methods suitable for long-term observation based on direct observation of users’ behaviour in a space that require a rather high number of researchers and are time-consuming. The most frequently used empirical methods for studying public life are the monitoring of pedestrian movement, the monitoring of traffic movement, path tracking and the monitoring of people movement intensity based on the local amenities.
